As the new moon set on St. Patrick's day of 2021, we hiked to the top of Piestwa Peak together for our first date.  Since then, every day we choose to continue climbing mountains together, building our lives and love, Team MyPerson formed in Phoenix, now ready to go everywhere.

After doing our inner work through year one of Covid, we'd both settled in Phoenix for the winter, Scott to work with his brother, me to visit and old friend while looking for winter warmth.

Covid brought change in the lives of every person on the planet, and I witnessed more than a few relationship form as well as fail.  While the human race went inward to protect itself from the virus, many coupled up to make a bubble rather than isolate, while others were forced to look at their partners so forcefully, that they finally acknowledged that they didn't want that partner anymore.  Scott and I were neither of those.  We both spent 2020 on our own, him for the first time in his 38 years, me as I always had, having been mostly single my entire life.  Not knowing how much the world was changing, Scott changed his own world October 1, 2019, leaving his marriage and Colorado comfort, where he'd spent the previous decade with his previous partner, and took the road into the unknown, not knowing he'd find the unicorn he'd always wanted.  Since 2015, I'd been on the road off and on, working as a PA in surgery part time to pay the bills for my personal version of van life.  I left Hawaii to enjoy the sites of North America, sleeping in the back of my vehicle, enjoying open space all over, falling asleep to star filled skies and waking up to make coffee at sunrise on my butane camp stove.  I'd accepted that it was better to do what I love while loving myself, than compromise to avoid doing it alone.  Finally, after seeing all I wanted around this country, I ended up in Peru when the pandemic broke out, climbing Machu Picchu on my 40th birthday, then quarantined 3 weeks until the US got me on a repatriation flight back to the States to witness all manner of pandemic chaos that continued.  1 year later I was back on the road, looking for warm winter, open space, and beautiful views.  Arizona had all that, as well as lots of connections for me, and there I finally met the unicorn I'd never thought existed.  Our mutual friend described his roommate as a Renaissance Man, I begged to meet him, knowing men like this don't sit on the shelf for long.  Our third date was camping under the full moon with mushrooms and wild horses, and by the end, we both knew this was everything we could ever want and more.
