The Car Seat

To be a traveler, ingenuity is mandatory. As happy as I am with my new trick, I'm ashamed that I didn't think of it sooner.  It took a  meandering visit to the Veteren's thrift store on my way back to Hawaii, where for a mere $10 I purchased this money saving "travel backpack" aka CAR SEAT CARRIER! Mom's all know that they can bring a car seat free of charge when they fly, something that never seemed quite fair to this nuliparious single girl, but now I'm on the bandwagon. Trying to get bulky items from my gypsy days on the mainland seemed incredibly overwhelming when I envisioned getting them into a suitcase, but when I discovered the car seat carrier, it solved all my problems... and with no baggage fee. I packed into it my camp table and chair, an iron and tea kettle, and padded it all with my down comforter, a luxury I thought I'd have to forego due to the shipping expense. And here they are, now in my Diamond Head home, ready for beach life along with the Titan backsaving cooler that came in the overhead compartment today. Now Honolulu really is home again!
