Putting together a photo book isn't quite the easy experience it shoud be, but after scattering Grandma's ashes last weekend, I wanted to overcome my apprehension and get it out to the fam before the awe of what we experienced together wore off. So I sat down with my iphone, hard drive, and chromebook and collated photos on Snapfish. Just when it seemed to come off without a glitch, it proved too good to be true. Why hadn't they confirmed my credit card when I hadn't used the account in ages? So I checked back to see what card had been charged made sure it was updated it to something current. Knowing they want their money as much as I want the books I worked so hard on, I figured they'd make an effort to get the updated information. Well, let me tell you: they went above and beyond. Way beyond anything I've ever seen. When the credit card on file didn't work, they tried my paypal. When my paypal account wouldn't work either, they scoured their database and found another paypal account linked to the address to which I shipped the books; my mom was charged for her own present!
Now the funny part goes like this: I'm not working right now and don't exactly have the extra dough to blow, but wanted to get these books out to everyone. My mom agreed to receive them at her house and disperse them to the siblings, but made no offer to contribute the cost I incured. She is known for not paying unless forced. But this time Snapfish decided she should subsidize the project . . . or was it Grandma's first trick in the afterlife? It seems right up her alley to teach her daughter-in-law a lesson in generousity right after she made her way out of this world giving everything she had for the 96 years she had anything.
